Lake Manyara National Park is renowned for its rich birdlife, boasting over 400 species of birds. As you explore the park, you’ll encounter a diverse range of trees, including the iconic sausage trees, umbrella trees, baobabs, and palms. The park’s tranquil ambiance and serene surroundings make it the perfect place to unwind and enjoy nature at its finest.

The name “Manyara” is derived from the Maasai language, referring to the plant species used by the Maasai people to create hedges. With two-thirds of the park covered by an alkaline lake, Lake Manyara offers a unique landscape submerged in alkaline water.

For adventurous and nature-loving individuals, Lake Manyara is truly a paradise waiting to be explored. After a day of thrilling adventures and wildlife sightings, retreat to Fig Tree Campsite for a relaxing dinner and overnight stay amidst the beauty of nature.

Day 4Lake Manyara NP to Central Serengeti

After enjoying breakfast at the campsite, embark on an unforgettable journey to the endless plains of Serengeti National Park. Covering a distance of 132 kilometers, the drive will take approximately 3 hours and 5 minutes.

Witnessing the annual wildebeest migration, often referred to as the greatest show on Earth, is an experience not to be missed.

Designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Serengeti National Park is renowned for its biodiversity and ecological significance. The Maasai people have grazed their livestock in these open plains for centuries, giving the area its name, which means “endless plains” in their language.

In the afternoon, you’ll arrive at Seronera Campsite, your destination for the day. Settle in and relax amidst the breathtaking surroundings of the Serengeti as you enjoy a delicious dinner and spend the night under the starlit African sky. Prepare yourself for more incredible wildlife encounters and unforgettable experiences in the days to come.

We’ll enjoy a leisurely picnic lunch in the shade of the towering acacia trees before continuing our adventure.

In the afternoon, we’ll embark on the Kopjes Circuit, a route that winds anti-clockwise around the Maasai Kopjes. These rocky outcrops are known for attracting wildlife, particularly lions and large cobras, making them a prime spot for wildlife sightings, especially during the dry seasons. Keep your eyes peeled for these magnificent creatures as we explore the area. After a thrilling day of game viewing, we’ll return to Seronera campsite for a delicious dinner and a peaceful overnight stay, surrounded by the sounds of the African wilderness.

Day 6Central Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater

After a hearty breakfast, we’ll embark on a morning game drive through Serengeti National Park, covering a distance of 113 kilometers, which will take approximately 2 hours. Serengeti is renowned for its incredible wildlife sightings, and today, we’ll have the opportunity to witness the park’s most iconic inhabitants.

During our game drive, keep your eyes peeled for the “big three” cats of Serengeti: lions, cheetahs, and leopards. Lions are abundant and can often be spotted feasting on their kills, while cheetahs are commonly seen roaming the Southern Plains. Look out for leopards lazing in the branches of tall trees along the Seronera River.
