Nicknamed as Whiskey route, this is the busiest route of Mt. Kilimanjaro due to its beautifully scenery and high success rate. 35% of Kilimanjaro climbers use this route. The route approach to the southwest of the Mountain. The path leads through the rain forest to Shira Plateau. Machame routes take 7 days to Summit, but could also be done in 6 days by missing out Karanga Valley and going straight to Barafu, The height gain from the gate to the summit is 4157 meters. The entire climb up and down is approximately 62 km/ 37 miles from gate to gate.

Day 1Arusha to Machame Gate to Machame Camp
Early pick up from your hotel and 2 hours drive up to Gate, after registration and pack our supplies we start our trek through beautiful forest trails until we reach Machame camp where you will have dinner and overnight

Day 2Machame Camp to Shira 2 Camp
After breakfast, we continue our trek leaving the rainforest behind, heading to the open Shira plateau, crossing valleys and steppe rocks. From here, you will enjoy great view of the peak.

Day 3Shira Plateau to Barranco Camp
After breakfast and packing, continue with our hike through the Lava tower. This is going to be the toughest day with a high desert environment with amazing rock formations,

Day 4Barranco Camp to Karanga to Barafu Camp
After breakfast, starting with Barranco wall or Kissing rock as you get a great view of Heim Glacier, this will be another day of up and down

We head toward the open rock and colder temperature. You will be offered with the view of the summit from a different mountain angle. also the two peaks of Mawenzi and Kibo are to be clearly seen from this position.
Karanga Valley to Barafu Camp
Hiking Time: 4 -5 Hrs
Distance: 5Km /3 Miles
Altitude: 4600m

Day 5Barafu Camp to Summit to Mweka Camp
Wake up Midnight and warm up with tea. This is the most challenging day of the Mountain. around the stella point, you will be rewarded with the beautiful sunrise coming from Mawenzi peak. Descend in sunlight to Barafu for early lunch, and then walk down to Mweka Camp.

Day 6Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate to Arusha
Your final day at the Mountain, descend through the lush forest to Mweka Gate where you sign out and pick up the summit certificate. A vehicle will meet us at Mweka Village to drive us back to the hotel in Arusha.
