Itinerary

Day 1Arusha to Tarangire NP

After breakfast, we will collect you from your hotel and drive along a scenic route to Tarangire National Park. The beauty of the park offers you an unparalleled game viewing you have never seen before. During the dry season, elephants abound and strip the ancient trunks of baobab trees and also acacia bark from the thorn trees. Breathtaking views of the Maasai steppe and mountains in the south make a stopover at Tarangire a memorable experience. You can see animals like elephants, zebra, buffalo, and oryx who venture from the Maasai to the Tarangire in search of water. There are also some lions prowling around looking for unexpecting prey. There are more breeding species of birds found in Tarangire National Park than anywhere else on the planet. After lunch, you will drive to the Panorama campsite for dinner and overnight.

Day 2Tarangire NP - Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, we will leave the campsite in our open-roof 4WD and head to the endless plains of the Serengeti. You can expect to see a wide diversity of wildlife found within the park. The park also hosts the greatest show on the planet. The United Nations Education, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) have listed the park as a World Heritage Site, because of its biodiversity and ecological significance.

The Maasai people had been grazing their livestock in the Serengeti which they named “open plains”, when the first European explorer, Oscar Bauman from Austria, visited the area in 1892. In the afternoon, you will reach the destination of the day, the Seronera campsite, for dinner and overnight.

Day 3Serengeti Plains to Ngorongoro Crater

Our morning drive takes us from Swiss lakes to the Swiss Army. At the once-secret Swiss army bunker at Fortress Fürigen, we’ll see part of the massive defense system designed to keep Switzerland strong and neutral. Afterward, a short drive into the countryside brings us to the charming Alpine village of Engelberg, our picturesque home for the next two days. We’ll settle into our lodge then head out for an orientation walk. Our stroll through the village will end at the Engelberg Abbey, a Benedictine monastery with its own cheese-making operation. You’ll have free time to wander back before dinner together. Sleep in Engelberg (2 nights). Bus: 1 hr. Walking: light.
