Itinerary

Day 1Dar es Salaam to Nyerere NP

We will pick you up from the hotel/airport in Dar es Salaam and proceed to Nyerere National Park with a packed picnic lunch. In the late afternoon, enjoy a boat safari along the mighty Rufiji River, where you will encounter hippos and crocodiles in good numbers. Head to Mloka Safari Lodge for dinner and your overnight stay.

Some 350 bird species have been recorded in the Selous Game Reserve. These are typical of miombo woodlands, and the birdlife supported by Rufiji swamplands is of particular interest.

Day 2Nyerere NP

After an early breakfast, your day will start with a morning walking safari, followed by a game drive with your picnic lunch included. The walking safari will give you a particularly intimate feel for the African wildlife. It starts in the morning with the guidance of an armed ranger, and takes 2 hours before you meet the driver at the reserve gate. Walking safaris offer a good chance of seeing giraffe, zebra, elephant, and good birding. Your dinner and overnight stay will be at Mloka Safari Lodge.

Day 3Nyerere NP to Dar Es Salaam

Early in the morning, before breakfast, you will have a wilderness walking safari with the guidance of a local, experienced guide. You will experience a particularly intimate feel for the African wildlife. Walking safaris offer good opportunities to see giraffes, zebras, elephants, and birdlife. The walk takes 3 hours before you return to the camp for breakfast. Afterward, drive back to Dar es Salaam. You will arrive at around 4 or 5 pm and be dropped off at the hotel/airport or connect with the last ferry to Zanzibar at 4 pm. Meals include breakfast and lunch.
